Behind The Scenes: In Search of a Route

themalamuteman

Plotting out a course is a difficult task! We are heading deep into the mountains on this year's expedition, where no dog team or snowmachine has ever traveled. Snow conditions are unknown in this region during winter because there aren't weather stations or communications.

This region is a "Black Hole" in terms of knowledge of the winter environment or travel conditions. But I'm confident the malamutes can handle whatever the environment hits us with. And I'm sure we will get slammed with some brutally tough wind, frigid temps, treacherous terrain, thin ice, super deep snow, and the possibility of being charged by a crazed and starved grizzly bear. This happens more than I want!

But I have faith and confidence in God to guide us!

"The secret to life is to have a task, something you devote your entire life to, something you bring everything to, every minute of the day for the rest of your life. And the most important thing is it must be something you cannot possibly do." -Fulton J Sheen-
